Jungle - Brazil nut tree. The brazils nuts as we see them are enclosed in a large ball shaped nut which when opened fall out like chocolates in an easter egg!

Puerto Maldonado - View up the Tambopata River on the way to our lodge close to the Tambopata National Reserve.
Puerto Maldonado - River rodent with a bird on its back. The rodent can reach 40 kg in weight.
Puerto Maldonado - We were given a rice meal wrapped in banana leaves during our 3 hour boat trip up the river. It had lots of flavour, with onion and peppers mixed in and still warm in the leaves. We also had banana crisps, thinly sliced banana fried, and brazil nuts dusted with icing sugar.
Puerto Maldonado - After sorting luggage for jungle - leaving most in a secure lock-up - we continued on a dusty track to the river, crossing wooden slatted bridges.
Puerto Maldonado - Arriving at the jungle airport after flying through the mountains to Cusco for a brief stop and on to here.

Grand Tour of Peru

Paddington and family fly from Heathrow to Lima via Madrid for a three week tour of Peru including, Lima, a stay in the Jungle, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Short Inca Trail - 9 miles - to Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Paracas and Nazca. The time travelling from Norwich to Lima took 30 hours, quite exhausting but manageable!
